The world makes a little more sense when you see it like a linguist

Hi, I’m Gordon — linguist, writer, avid observer of how people miscommunicate.
As a teenager I thought I’d become a Shaolin monk, rockstar, or magician. I ended up working in customer service for almost 10 years, before joining my dad’s company. That’s after I quit my teacher training to study linguistics and conversation analysis.
Talk about career twists: I also hosted several 3-day masterclasses for professional magicians and psychic entertainers. (That was… bizarre.)
And I sport a striking “Roman nose” – which, on good days, makes me feel like an ancient philosopher. (Exhibit: Portrait No. 001)
A strange but great combo for what I do now: helping people own who they are and build their business around it, expand their writing style to match their personality, ease friction in tough conversations, and give their words some well-placed oomph.
The best way to enter my wicked world and stay in touch is through my daily Field Notes.

The Linguist’s Studio
To the uninitiated, it looks like a desk. To me, this Sheesham wood beauty is where the “magic” happens. It’s my Linguist’s Studio.
Here, I do most of the deep work: research, thinking, writing.
But the Linguist’s Studio is more than a workplace. It’s a vision of how I want to work with language to satisfy the scientist and craftsman in me.
All in the name of smoother relationships and bolder ways of showing up.

Each journey begins with an invitation… and a curious mind
So brew a cup of tea and sit with me.
Leave the noise and hustle behind.
(Poetic, right? Stay with me … it gets better.)
Here’s how I see it:
Economics tells you what a relationship is worth.
Psychology tells you what it needs.
Linguistics is the relationship.
What we say and how we say it (even silence) builds or breaks relationships, persuades or dissuades, creates or destroys trust.
In the Linguist’s Studio we put your communication under the microscope, and craft the heck out of it. Without lifeless content templates, or communication models designed by electrical engineers in 1948.
Just know: This is not grammar school.
We work with juicy stuff like conversation analysis, pragmatics, cognitive linguistics, and other gems linguists usually hide in dusty academic journals.
All explained in plain English. No boring theory. (Mostly.)
We draw from linguistics, old books, real life… even psychics and magicians.
How’s your tea, fellow Seeker?

This might be for you, if…
You actually care about the quality of your relationships and the way you do business.
You probably…
- Obsess (a little) over the words you choose
- Want your work to feel more you
- Have strong values, but don’t want to shout
- Know connection beats conversion … but you’d like both
- Prefer meaning over manipulation
- Have an edge you’re ready to own
- Might enjoy a small rebellion against boring writing
If that sounds like you, you’ll likely feel at home here.
Especially if you’re a thoughtful founder, coach, creative, or curious communicator trying to build something real without losing your soul along the way.
